This course is a beginning course for adults wishing to learn basic techniques and approaches to the creative process. Participants will be guided to tap into their innate creative source, using freeing and affirming exercises to relax and loosen up. From doodling and automatic drawing to planning out a large scale drawing, we will explore the elements of design and composition, including use of line, texture, form, working with light sources to create dramatic effects, and other useful techniques, using graphite, charcoal, ink, and pastels. Weather permitting we will take advantage of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park as a source of inspiration.
Please bring a sketchbook and drawing pencils to the first class. A list of additional materials will be given on the first day.
Duration of course: 6 wks
Class length: 3 hrs
Dates: Fridays from April 5 – May 10
